How to Tie a Durag

Get in the know with fashion and your new durag. A durag is really easy to tie down and only takes a few seconds to complete. Once you learn the technique, you will be on the right track with celebrities and rappers alike. Don’t be a style disaster, do it the right way instead. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Comb your hair down as flat as you can, if you have long hair. This will prevent hair from sticking out, which may get in the way of tying (you can also end up getting hair tied in strings).

      Place the cloth over your head like a hood. Make sure the fit is tight in front, on your forehead. Place flap of cloth down on your neck, lying flat.

      Hold the durag by the strings, one in each hand, out past your ears.

      Take the strings around the back of your head, back around to the front. Make an "X" with the strings on your forehead. Bring them back around to the back.

      Tie in a knot at the back of your head or a bow, fixing the flap and straightening durag on your head if necessary.
