Things You'll Need:
- 2 or 3 brightly colored slips
- Colorful scarves or scarf-type floaty material
- Glitter
- Fabric glue
- Wings
- Face paint
- Fake flowers (same colors as your scarves)
- Needle and thread
-
Step 1
Take the two slips (make sure the slips are longer, for a dress) and cut a zigzag, tinkerbell-style cut on each dress bottom. Layer the two when you put them on for a fantasy, layered look. This works well when the colors are complementary, such as a pink slip under a green.
-
Step 2
Take your scarves and, either in pieces (also cut in the zigzag fashion) or whole, sew them around the waist on your slip, to create a tutu effect. Take the fake flowers and sew or glue them to where the thread is visible from sewing on the layers. You can add ribbon if desired.
-
Step 3
On the torso of the dress, take fabric glue and create swirly designs. Sprinkle glitter as you go. This will make the top look just as whimsical as the bottom.
-
Step 1
Take your simple wings (can be found at most dollar stores around Halloween) and lay them on top of newspaper so the glue doesn't seep through onto your dining table.
-
Step 2
Using the same approach with the glue and glitter as on the dress, customize your wings.
-
Step 3
You can add flowers and fake gemstones as well. Moss also works well. Let them dry over night or longer. Create even more layering if desired.
-
Step 1
Make your hair wild and unruly, as fairies are supposed to have. Frizz and tease it out. Make random braids and pin in the leftover fake flowers. Spray it different colors with color hair spray and throw in some glitter.
-
Step 2
A nice easy idea for fairy face paint!Use face paint or makeup to create a great fairy look. Finish off with glitter. See the image for an example.
-
Step 3
The more glitter the better for this costume.Tights are optional, as are any additional whimsical pieces of jewelry. And of course, more glitter is encouraged.
