Selecting the right handbag can help you look your best. Just because a bag looks good at the store, it won't necessarily look good on you.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Many women cannot leave the house without a purse or handbag because of all the necessities that they need to carry with them. In my opinion, handbags are one of the most important fashion accessories that help you draw positive attention to you.

  2. Step 2

There are women that love designer handbags. Those handbags can be really expensive. If designer handbags go on sale; sometimes price is cut by more than 30%. So, it's important to buy the bags go on sale whenever possible. Lovers of LV: Louis Vuitton never have sales and their bag is only sold by themselves.
For other designer bags, check neiman marcus, eluxury, net-a-porter, saks and nordstrom's sale section.

  3. Step 3

Handbags come in different shades and shapes. It should match your body type to draw positive attention to your best features while de-emphasizing other areas. Also, handbags should match your outfit.

  4. Step 4

Handbags fall in the following categories: tote, clutch, satchel, hobo, wristlet, and shoulder bag.

  5. Step 5

One basic concept in selecting the right handbag is the size of your body. Generally, if you are bigger, go for a bigger bag to balance out your body. And if you are on the smaller side, small bags fit you better because big bags will make you look even smaller.

  6. Step 6

For a plus sized woman with a lot of curves on her, a wide handbag or a bigger tote will look good on you.

  7. Step 7

If you are tall and skinny with not a lot of curves, go for a bag that make the illusion of curves. Long shoulder bags, and hobos are best picks for you. Usually, bold patterns and details will match well with your model heights.

  8. Step 8

For the petite woman, never go for really big bags. Your handbag should be simple, clean and small. The satchel and hobo are good matches. Remember you don't want your bags competing with your small frame.

  9. Step 9

The colors of the bag should fit your outfit. And the style should match the outfit too. For example, clutches are more for the evening and are usually dressier. The tote is for shopping and everyday use. While the satchel is great for the office.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, you don't have to spend a ton of money on the designer bags for the million dollar look. Picking the right one can greatly enhance your overall look.
