How to Make Homemade Disinfectant Spray for Surfaces

Commercial disinfectant sprays may remove germs from surfaces, but they can be expensive and may contain strong chemicals. You can make effective disinfectant sprays that will make your room smell clean and naturally fresh.

Things You'll Need

• 10-oz. plastic spray bottle
• Distilled water
• 30 drops lemon essential oil
• 2 cups distilled water
• Large plastic spray bottle
• 1/4 cup white vinegar
• 1/4 tsp. lavender essential oil
• 1/4 tsp. tea tree oil
• 3 tbsp. of vodka or witch hazel
• Large spray bottle
• 18 drops lemon essential oil
• 7 drops clove essential oil
• 4 oz. distilled water
• 10 drops thyme essential oil

Instructions

Lemon Disinfectant Spray

1. Fill a 10-oz. plastic spray bottle with distilled water.

2. Add 30 drops of lemon essential oil, and shake well.

3. Use the lemon disinfectant spray on faucets, counter tops, door knobs and linens.

Natural Disinfectant Spray

1. Pour 2 cups of distilled water in a large plastic spray bottle.

2. Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1/4 tsp. of lavender essential oil and 1/4 tsp. of tea tree oil.

3. Shake the mixture thoroughly to blend the ingredients.

4. Use the natural disinfectant spray to disinfect bathroom surfaces, or anywhere a disinfectant is needed.

Lemon and Thyme Disinfectant Surface Spray

1. Place 3 tbsp. of vodka or witch hazel in a large plastic spray bottle.

2. Add 18 drops of lemon essential oil, 7 drops of clove essential oil, 4 oz. of distilled water and 10 drops of thyme essential oil and shake until the essential oils are dissolved.

3. Use to disinfect surfaces as needed. Shake before each use.

Tips & Warnings

• Add 1 tsp. of liquid castile soap to the lemon disinfectant spray for an all-purpose lemon disinfectant cleaner.

• Keep lemon and thyme disinfectant surface spray out of the reach of children.
