Unfortunately, car ownership isn't all tooling around with the wind in your hair. You have to maintain your car, and every month, you should check the air pressure in the tires on your Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select a tire pressure gauge if you don't already have one. Be sure to get one that is easy for you to read. There are many kinds of gauges for maximum ease of use.

  2. Step 2

Allow your tires to cool down overnight or at least several hours. Friction from driving or even absorbed heat from the sun can heat the air inside your tires and cause it to expand, which throws off the measurements.

  3. Step 3

Unscrew the tiny plastic caps from each of the valve stems. If you're new to this, understand that these pieces of plastic can get away from you very easily. Keep them in a pocket for safekeeping.

  4. Step 4

Test the pressure in your tires by pushing the gauge onto each valve stem. At first, you'll hear a hissing sound. This means you're not pushing hard enough. Be sure to depress the gauge hard enough and at the right angle to stop the hissing.

  5. Step 5

Write down each measurement one by one, taking note of which pressure is in which tire in case you need to make adjustments.

  6. Step 6

Examine the results in comparison with the recommended pressure provided by Mitsubishi, which recommends 26 to 36 psi for the tires in an Eclipse.
