How to Buy Games for Mac Computers

Computer games are a great way to take a short break from work when you're getting stressed. However, it can be a challenge to find a good game for a Mac, since so many of the games are made only for PCs. Generally, you can purchase Mac games in a Mac store or other computer store or by downloading the game online. However, you must be cautious when buying games online.

1. Decide what type of game you want to buy. Many games are available for purchase online and will download straight to your computer, but others must be purchased in the store and loaded onto the computer via disk. If you intend on buying a shooting or multi-player game (mainly for the serious gamer), you will probably have to go to a Mac store or other computer store to get what you need.

2. Search online for the types of games you are looking for. Some online game shops offer better deals than what you would find if you bought the game off the shelf. Also, some games are cheaper if you simply download them, rather than buy the game on a disk and load it into your computer.

3. Purchase the game online. You will need to make sure the store you are buying the game from has a secure credit card site, so your credit card will be used securely and you won't be put at risk of identity or credit card theft. If an online store is not secure, do not buy from it.

4. Download the game to your computer. This is assuming you purchase a downloadable game rather than a regular game that will be shipped to you. Make sure you store the program file in a place where you know where it is. This will be very important if something happens to the game and you have to uninstall it and then reload the game to your computer.

5. Open the .dmg file and load the game onto your computer. Choose a folder in which to download the game and you will be ready to double-click on the game icon and play your new game.

• Check your hard drive storage space before trying to download any games to make sure there is enough free space on your computer.
• If you're not sure if you will like a game or not, download a trial version if that is an option.
• Only purchase games from a reliable game website. If they don't have a secure payment server, don't deal with them.
• Make sure the game you want to purchase is a .dmg file and not a .exe. Some game websites only sell .exe files, which only work on PCs, not on Macs.
