Making your own bath powder is easy. There are many different suggested methods, but nearly all include a naturally absorbent agent such as cornstarch or baking soda. Use a blender to grind the ingredients to an extra-fine consistency. Finally, add fragrance. The resulting powder may be put through a flour sifter or shaken through a sieve to break up any clumps before decanting. This article will give you a very simple bath powder you can make at home. Things You'll Need

  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup rice flour
  • ½ tsp. essential oil (your choice of fragrance)
  • 1 tsp. grains of dried rice
  • Blender
  • Empty powder container

Instructions

  1. Make Bath Powder

    • 1

      Place the cornstarch into your blender.

    • 2

      Add the rice flour. Turn on the blender and mix together very well.

      Stop the blender and pour the powder into an empty powder container.

      Add the dried rice to the container.

      Pour in the essential oil and close the container. Shake the powder thoroughly in the closed container at least once a day for the next three to five days. The powder will be infused with the scent of the oil and be ready for you to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • When the container is shaken, the grains of dried rice will break up any lumps in the powder that form as a result of ambient moisture. The rice will not be small enough to shake out of the container.

  • Keep this and all similar powders out of your eyes and mucous membranes!
