Things You'll Need:
- Etsy account
- Credit card
- Pictures of your jewelry
-
Step 1
Use your camera or a good quality digital camera to take photos of your jewelry. If you don't own a camera, you can sometimes use a flatbed scanner to scan images your jewelry too. You need good photos to represent your jewelry online. Take close up of beads or crystals that are used, any charms that are a part of the jewelry, and the clasp area. Your photo is what will mostly be the key point in selling your jewelry on Etsy.
-
Step 2
Decide on a price that you would like to charge for each piece of jewelry. Take the supplies and accessories that are used into consideration when you are calculating your price.
-
Step 3
Create an account at Etsy.com (see Resources) or log in if you already have an account. If you don't have an account, you will need to set up a shop at Etsy. You will need a credit card to sign up for an account so that you can pay for the listing fees on Etsy. It costs .20 per item to sell at Etsy.
-
Step 4
Open your shop at Etsy. You will need to create a name and a description for your shop. Upload an avatar or banner to represent your Etsy store.
-
Step 5
List an item at Etsy by clicking on the "list an item" link. Create a title for your piece of jewelry. Try to incorporate the items used into your title. For example, if you used Swarvoski crystals, you could say Swarvoski Bracelet. Or if you used green glass beads, you could try "Green Beaded Glass Bracelet."
-
Step 6
Write a description after you have created your title. Be sure to include the length, supplies used, and the kind of clasp it has. Try to be as specific as possible so that the buyer knows about your piece of jewelry. Do not make it too lengthy though as the pictures will do most of the selling for your item. Short and concise descriptions will work the best.
-
Step 7
Include the price of your item, shipping prices, and keywords or tag words that will help shoppers find your item. Try using tag words that are similar to the items that you used to create the piece of jewelry. (For example: green beads, glass beads, Swarvoski crystals, spring clasp, toggle clasp).
-
Step 8
List links to your items on Etsy by using their widget tools or posting links on your jewelry website if you have one. Create business cards with your Etsy shop link posted on it if you do not own a website. Your Etsy store is an easy way to market your handmade jewelry online. Be sure to include your link in your email and message board signatures and don't forget to share your link with all of your friends, family and co-workers too.
