Instructions

    • 1

Begin with clean lids primed with an eye makeup base for color that stays true and lasts longer. Make sure that eyebrows have been cleaned up and trimmed to open up the eye area and flatteringly frame the rest of the face. Fill brows in with brow powder or pencil for definition as well as to get rid of sparseness between hairs. Concentrate especially on defining the arch to open up the eye area as much as possible.

    • 2

Press a medium to medium-dark eyeshadow onto the ball of the eye from lash line upward, stopping underneath the brow bone where the crease would usually be. Keep the color focused only on the ball of the eye, not extending too much outward or toward outer corners. Feel free to use a color that is rich and highly pigmented and catches a lot of attention in a formula that is shimmery or even metallic.

    • 3

Swish an eyeshadow blending brush back and forth over the area above the ball of the eye where a crease can typically be found. This softens the color at this point of the eye, creating a gradation of color from darker below to lighter above. Clean off your blending brush on a piece of tissue, dip into a rosy flesh eyeshadow and tap off excess. Swish the brush back and forth again on the same area to enhance and create a separation between the lid and the brow bone. Blend very well so that no evident or harsh lines exist.

    • 4

Swipe a light flesh tone onto brow bones. Work a highly pigmented dark eyeliner into your lash lines, both top and bottom, to define eye shape. You may want to use a waterproof formula so you don't lose the product every time you open your eyes and the skin from your lid wipes it off. Further open up the eyes by gently running a white or silver eye pencil along the lower rims.

    • 5

Curl eyelashes. Run lengthening and thickening black mascara through top lashes, making sure to get more color on the base rather than on the tips. This makes lashes appear thicker and avoids a heavy, clumpy look. Touch the tip of the mascara wand lightly to lower lashes as well. Dab a subtle highlighter into the inner corners of eyes to bring out more of that wide-awake doe look. Clean up by dotting an eye-brightening concealer underneath the eyes. Pat or blend into skin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the colors according to your skin tone.

  • To draw attention primarily towards the eyes, keep cheek and lip makeup subtle, even flesh-toned.

  • For a more dramatic effect, attach individual false lashes onto top lash lines from the pupil outward.
