How to Change Firefox Browser's Appearance
If you have to stare at a computer screen for long periods of time, you may find yourself longing for some type of change of scenery. Firefox offers many free add-ons and extensions for users, including fun themes, colored tabs and other items that in some way change the appearance of the Firefox browser. The Firefox browser also allows users to download multiple add-ons and extensions before needing to restart Firefox. It only takes a few minutes to review a couple of pages of choices, download what you want and restart your browser with your new features.

Open your Firefox browser and go to the Firefox add-on site (see Resources below).

Type the word “Themes” into the “search for add-ons” box and leave the “all add-ons” box as it is. If you want to search for a specific type of theme, enter that word or name into the “search for add-ons” box and select “Themes” for the “within” box. Click on the arrow button to begin the search.

Review the options that are displayed. It will be noted with the “Add to Firefox” button of each option, whether the options apply to only certain versions of Firefox or not. Press the “Add to Firefox” button, then the “install” button, but do not restart Firefox yet. Once you have selected all the themes you wish to download during this session, move on to the next step.

Return to the search page of the Firefox add-on site. This time leave “search for add-ons” in the first box and select “Appearance” for the “within” box. This will bring up all of the current options that alter Firefox’s appearance. Select any additional downloads you desire by pressing the “Add to Firefox” button and the “install” button.

Click out of the Firefox add-on site and all of your open Firefox browser windows once all of your downloads have finished.

Restart Firefox and complete any additional installation steps necessary. Instructions will appear in a pop-up box. Otherwise, begin enjoying and playing with your new Firefox appearance features.

Tips & Warnings
Not all add-ons and extensions will work with all builds of Firefox, but many of them do regularly update so users of previous builds of Firefox can enjoy new features without needing to also update to the latest version of Firefox.
Mozilla does not have the time or means to thoroughly check all of the downloads on the site. Carefully review the description of each feature you wish to download as well as the comments left by others who have downloaded it. As with anything you download, use caution.
Sometimes conflicts will crop up between different programs and add-ons. If a conflict arises, simply uninstall the offending program and restart your computer.
