Step 1
Be committed. You're in this marriage by choice, so stick by your husband and commit to a long term relationship with him. There will be ups and downs in your relationship, but learn to be a team and you will find that together you can get through any challenges together. When difficulties arise, remind your husband that you support him and that you are his partner in all things.
-
Step 2
Show respect. Be genuine in all of your contact with your husband. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Listen to his needs and wants, respect his space, treat him as you would like to be treated.
-
Step 3
Be loving. Express your love for your husband, both emotionally and physically. Tell him you love him, in an open and honest manner. Initiate physical intimacy with your husband, surprise him with your love. Find creative ways to express your love for him.
-
Step 4
Know that communication is key. Turn off the TV and turn on your ears. Talk to each other. Listen to one another. Maintain eye contact when you talk. Make time to communicate. Men and women have different communication styles, but make an earnest attempt to listen and understand your husband's wants and needs. Repeat back to him what he expresses in your own words, so that he knows you're listening and trying to understand. Communicate your wants and needs too, so that your husband isn't left guessing and potentially failing. Don't keep secrets, talk about everything together, it will help build trust between you both.

Step 5
Recognize his efforts. Thank your husband for all of the hard work he does, whether at home or at work. Thank him for being a wonderful husband and let him know that you appreciate his efforts. Tell him how proud you are of him. Husbands need to feel appreciated and validated for their efforts.
