Don't throw out those old bananas. Instead, use the fruit to make a facial mask that smooths, softens and nourishes your skin. The oil and fat in the mask protect your skin, allowing it to rebuild its protective layers. The oatmeal exfoliates your skin and soothes pores irritated by acne.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bowl
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Fork
  • 2 tbsp. rosewater
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp. almond oil
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 to 1 tbsp. oatmeal
  • 2 cucumber slices
  1. Step 1

Peel the banana and put it in the bowl. Mash it with a fork until it is nearly smooth.

  2. Step 2

Add the rosewater, egg yolk and almond oil to the bowl. Mash and stir the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth.

  3. Step 3

Add the flour gradually until the banana mixture forms a loose paste. Add the oatmeal to the paste and combine thoroughly.

  4. Step 4

Wash your face with soap and water and dry completely. Apply the mask to your face and neck, steering clear of your eyes. Place the cucumber slices over your eyes and relax for 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Remove the mask with warm water.

Tips & Warnings
  • This banana mask can be used up to three times per week.
  • The mask can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week. Throw the mask out if it turns brown or smells like it's fermenting.
  • Since this face mask contains almond oil, it is not appropriate for anyone with nut allergies. Substitute olive oil for the almond oil.
