How to Make Household Ninja Weapons

Ninja weapons don't have to come from a costume shop.

Nunchucks and throwing stars are staples of the ninja's toolkit. If you want to be a ninja but can't afford the "weapons" necessary, don't despair. You can make your own ninja weapons from ordinary household materials.

Things You'll Need

• Tinfoil
• Two equal-size pieces of mop or broom handles
• Beaded chain, 1 1/2 feet long, with clasp

Making a Throwing Star

1. Cut a square out of aluminum foil. Fold it diagonally in half from the upper left corner to the lower right corner, then open it.

2. Fold it diagonally in half from the upper right corner to the lower left corner, then open it again. Fold vertically in half and open it.

3. Fold over to the center fold line, starting from the upper left corner. Repeat this fold from the upper right corner to the center fold line.

4. Fold in half along the center fold line, then fold into a parallelogram.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 8 seven more times, then interlock your parallelogram segments together by folding them into one another.

6. Push on each parallelogram to create the saw-like effect.

Making Nunchucks

1. Drill a hole through each piece of mop or broom handle about 3 inches from the top.

2. Run a beaded chain through the hole of one piece, then connect it to the other piece of wood.

3. Clasp shut.
