Most skin blemishes begin as clogged pores. If you can keep your pores clean and unclogged, you will have fewer breakouts and much more radiant skin. In order to have clean pores, you must maintain a regular skincare routine.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Facial cleanser
  • Facial toner
  • Cotton ball
  • Facial scrubs
  • Facial mask
  • Oil-free moisturizer
  • Facial
  • Water
  • Chemical peel
  1. Step 1

Cleanse your face twice daily. Use a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type (dry, normal or oily). You should use the cleanser in the morning and again at night, prior to going to bed. This will remove makeup, sweat and debris that can clog your pores.

  2. Step 2

Apply a facial toner to your skin daily, using a cotton ball. Toners and astringents help to prevent clogged pores. It's important that you use toner regularly for effective results.

  3. Step 3

Exfoliate your skin twice a week, using a facial scrub. When you exfoliate, you slough away dead skin cells that rest on the surface of your skin. If you don't exfoliate, these old cells remain there and can clog your pores. In addition, exfoliation helps to remove other impurities from the skin's surface. Your skin will feel softer and look cleaner with regular exfoliation.

  4. Step 4

Use a deep-cleaning facial mask once a week. Choose a mask that is specifically designed to clear clogged pores. You can choose between masks that you rinse off and those that you must peel off. Both varieties have been shown to clear clogged pores and promote healthier skin.

  5. Step 5

Moisturize your skin using an oil-free moisturizer. Moisturizers that contain oil can exacerbate clogged pores, so opt for a water-based moisturizer instead. Even if you have naturally oily skin, it's imperative that you apply moisturizer daily. If you don't, your skin will produce even more oil in an attempt to hydrate the skin. This will result in more breakouts and clogged pores. Be diligent about moisturizer application to avoid this issue.

  6. Step 6

See an skincare professional once a month for a professional facial. Most facials include a steaming process that helps to clear clogged pores. In addition, the skincare professional will treat your skin with scrubs, masks, cleansers and other products to help clean your pores. She should cater the facial to suit your skin type and any particular skin issues you are having.

  7. Step 7

Consider a chemical peel. These peels are applied by skincare professionals, often dermatologists. The chemicals applied penetrate the top layers of the skin, causing them to flake away after a few days, thereby revealing younger, fresher skin below. If you are using chemical peels to clear clogged pores, a light peel should be sufficient.

  8. Step 8

Hydrate. It's important to care for your skin from the inside out. Aim to drink at least 64 oz. of water daily. Dehydration can lead to clogged pores and unhealthy skin.

  9. Step 9

Visit a dermatologist if you have trouble clearing your clogged pores. You may need stronger treatment, such as prescription creams. The doctor will assess your skin and help you choose an appropriate means of treatment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. This will keep your skin in healthy condition.
  • Never squeeze or pick at clogged pores. This will only damage the skin.
