Acne scars can make you feel self conscious, as if they are the only thing noticeable on your face. The appearance of acne scars can be improved with good skin care habits and with the right makeup products.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Powder
  • Magnifying mirror
  • Natural light
  1. Step 1

Shop for a concealer in the color closest to your skin tone. You may have to mix and match to find the best color. If you have concealers from previous purchases that don't match try mixing them with different amounts using the palm of your hand or a small bowl and a cotton swab until you find the best color for your skin tone.

  2. Step 2

Choose which kind of concealer you want to try. There are several types including liquid, creamy stick and cream like a foundation makeup. A thick foundation would work also. The creamy stick types give good coverage, last longer and are easy to transport in a purse, pocket or luggage.

  3. Step 3

Put the concealer on using natural light if possible. This will help you see where the concealer should be placed and how much. Also, it will help with blending. A makeup brush or sponge will help put the makeup exactly where you need it to be and help blend it outward so there is no noticeable line of demarcation.

  4. Step 4

Find foundation and powder similar in tone to your concealer to create a smooth all over tone and to set the makeup. This will help it to last most of the work day or through important events.

  5. Step 5

Use a filler serum to fill the depression of the acne scar, let it dry and then cover with concealer, foundation and set with either powder, loose powder or foundation powder.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use makeup removers made for sensitive skin.
  • Make sure to clean off all traces of makeup at the end of the day.
  • Green concealer helps downplay redness but use it with a light hand.
  • Yellow concealer helps downplay dark spots and shadows but blend well.
  • Keep makeup brushes and sponges clean so as not to spread acne-causing bacteria and they will last longer.
