When you get a heavy amount of ear wax in your ears, your ears can feel funny, you can loose a small amount of hearing, infection can set in and you can even develop problems relating to your sinuses. For these reasons, many people choose to remove ear wax at home, on a regular basis. There are a few methods in which to do this, safely. Just take great care when you choose these steps and remember that your ear and your ear canal can be sensitive.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Apply drops directly into your ears. You can buy special drops at any drug store for the sole use of breaking down ear wax.Just follow the directions on the packing box of the drops.
Step2
Use a home remedy such as baby oil or mineral oil. If you choose to try baby oil or mineral oil, hold your head to the side. Using a medicine dropper, squeeze two drops of the oil into the upright ear. Place a cotton ball into the ear, to keep the oil from dripping right out again. Allow the oil to set for several minutes. Remove the cotton ball. Bend your head, allowing the oil to drip from your ear.
Step3
Mix up a combination of warm water and apple cider vinegar This combination can be used to flush out your ears. You will need to also use a bulb irrigator. Tilt your head to the side. Place the bulb irrigator into the mixture. Squeeze it, allowing it to soak up the mixture. Gently place the end of the irrigator into your ear. Do not force it. Squeeze the irrigator again, allowing the mixture to enter the ear. This will create a flushing like action that should rinse out the mixture along with any ear wax build up. Repeat the action for several minutes. The whole flushing process can be done twice daily, as needed.
Step4
Use a sea salt spray. This can be used daily to help clean the canal and reverse the build up of ear wax. This can be bought at most drug stores.

Tips & Warnings

  • Regular amounts of Vitamin C in your diet can help eliminate ear wax build up naturally.
  • If ears still feel full of wax after a week's worth of at home treatment, consult your physician.
  • Never use a cotton swab or any other object to clean your ear. The object may be pushed into your ear further than you intend on pushing and actually damage your ear canal.
  • Plus, it can cause the wax to become compacted even more than it first was.
  • If you are experiencing ear pain, a fever, loss of hearing or ringing in the ears do not attempt any home remedies for removing ear wax. Consult your physician, instead.
  • Ear candles have caused injuries to many. Think twice before every using these.
  • If you become dizzy when flushing your ear, stop immediately.
  • Be careful about using hydrogen peroxide in your ears. This solution is very strong and could cause adverse reactions.
