How to Make Aromatherapy Aftershave
Instead of going to the store to buy some fancy cologne, make a batch of herbal aromatherapy aftershave. This refreshing tonic heals, soothes and softens skin after shaving, and it's rich scent tops anything you can purchase commercially. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 16-oz. dark glass bottle
- 10 drops rosemary essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 8 drops clove essential oil
- 5 drops bergamot essential oil
- 5 drops frankincense essential oil
- 2 drops carrot seed essential oil
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1/2 cup dried witch hazel leaves
- 1 tbsp. vegetable glycerin
- 1 tbsp. aloe vera juice
- 2 tbsp. turkey red oil
- Cotton pads

Mix 10 drops of rosemary essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, 8 drops of clove essential oil, 5 drops of bergamot essential oil, 5 drops of frankincense essential oil and 2 drops of carrot seed essential oil in a 16-oz. dark glass bottle. .

Seal the bottle for 2 to 4 days. Shake the container 2 or 3 times daily to combine the oil thoroughly.

Bring 1 cup of distilled water to a boil, and then lower the heat. Add 1/2 cup of dried witch hazel leaves to the water and cover with a tight lid. Allow the leaves to simmer for 60 to 80 minutes, and then strain the herbs from the water. Allow the water to cool to room temperature.

Pour the herbal infusion into your bottle with the oils. Add 1 tbsp. of vegetable glycerin, 1 tbsp. of aloe vera juice and 2 tbsp. of turkey red oil. Gently shake the bottle.

Shake the bottle before each use. After shaving, place the aromatherapy aftershave on a cotton pad and apply it evenly to your face and neck.
