How to Make Aromatherapy Aftershave

Instead of going to the store to buy some fancy cologne, make a batch of herbal aromatherapy aftershave. This refreshing tonic heals, soothes and softens skin after shaving, and it's rich scent tops anything you can purchase commercially.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 16-oz. dark glass bottle
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 8 drops clove essential oil
  • 5 drops bergamot essential oil
  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil
  • 2 drops carrot seed essential oil
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1/2 cup dried witch hazel leaves
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable glycerin
  • 1 tbsp. aloe vera juice
  • 2 tbsp. turkey red oil
  • Cotton pads
  1. Step 1

    Mix 10 drops of rosemary essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, 8 drops of clove essential oil, 5 drops of bergamot essential oil, 5 drops of frankincense essential oil and 2 drops of carrot seed essential oil in a 16-oz. dark glass bottle. .

  2. Step 2

    Seal the bottle for 2 to 4 days. Shake the container 2 or 3 times daily to combine the oil thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

    Bring 1 cup of distilled water to a boil, and then lower the heat. Add 1/2 cup of dried witch hazel leaves to the water and cover with a tight lid. Allow the leaves to simmer for 60 to 80 minutes, and then strain the herbs from the water. Allow the water to cool to room temperature.

  4. Step 4

    Pour the herbal infusion into your bottle with the oils. Add 1 tbsp. of vegetable glycerin, 1 tbsp. of aloe vera juice and 2 tbsp. of turkey red oil. Gently shake the bottle.

  5. Step 5

    Shake the bottle before each use. After shaving, place the aromatherapy aftershave on a cotton pad and apply it evenly to your face and neck.
