How to Plan a Secretary Appreciation Day

Secretaries and administrative assistants work hard every day. To show how much they are appreciated, Secretary Appreciation Day is observed on the Wednesday on the last full week in April. Planning special things on that day will let your secretary know that she is a valued member of your team; here's how.

Instructions

1. Organize a special meal for him. Consider having food delivered to the office. Set up a special area for the meal. Find out what restaurant he like and what he usually orders from there. Think about being his server for the meal.

2. Give her a token of your appreciation. This gift should be personalized. A gift basket, gift certificate or a monogrammed item for her desk are good options for her gift. Make sure that she is surprised when she gets it.

3. Hire help for the day. Make his job easy for one day. Consider hiring a temporary employee to answer the phones or do some filing for him. He will appreciate this chance to breathe and catch up.

4. Get all of the other employees to show their appreciation. Ask all of the employees to sign a card to show that they appreciate her. She will like this little token of appreciation.

5. Surprise him with the afternoon off or offer him another day off in lieu of taking Secretary Appreciation Day off. Make sure that the time off is paid time off.

6. Reminisce with her. Remind her of some of the funny things that have happened in the past. If you have pictures of some of the funny times, put them in an album and give the album to her.
