How to Choose Facial Hairstyles for Winter

There's a lot to be said for the fashion statement that facial hair makes. During the colder months, facial hair is both practical and attractive, so long as you are willing to maintain your facial hair and not let it grow wild.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know your limits. If you've been growing patchy stubble for years, you obviously aren't the best candidate for a full beard. Every face is different though, and you may have better growth for a goatee, mustache, or even sideburns. Facial hair is a trial and error process, not matter what the season.

  2. Step 2

Opt for the rugged stubble look. Women love it, especially if you're a suit and tie kind of guy. The heavy stubble look is great for winter because it keeps you warm, and requires less maintenance than most other looks. Trim your neck and keep the stubble groomed to make it look the best.

  3. Step 3

Grow out your sideburns. Don't do mutton chops unless that's just really your thing, but extend the burns to the mid-ear point for winter and trim them to keep a clean line. You can always get them done when you get a haircut, which keeps them looking sharp.

  4. Step 4

Try a "Balbo" or even a trimmed goatee for winter. If you're usually clean shaven but want to try something for sophisticated for winter, a well manicured goatee always looks good. The Balbo is another trendy option. This hybrid style mixes a chin beard, soul patch, and mustache for a dead sexy look with a refined charm.
