How to Watch & Stream Television

Maybe it's time to try streaming television

One of the greatest advantages of high speed internet is the ability to stream television on your computer at home. This gives you the ability to catch episodes of your favorite TV shows that you may have missed, or that you just enjoyed so much you want to watch them again. The greatest part of all of this is that in most cases you can watch these episodes for free.

1. Obtain a fast internet connection. If you are still using dial up, you are most likely going to experience frustratingly slow buffering times. A buffering time is the time it takes for your computer to download the information it is about to play. If you have a slow internet connection, your computer may have a hard time keeping up with how much information that is required to download to play the episode. The best remedy for this situation is to upgrade your connection.

2. Decide which show you would like to watch and discover what network the show is broadcast on. Most major networks now offer free streaming video for some of their shows. The best way to locate these free videos is to visit the homepage of the broadcasting network that owns the show and click on full episodes. Browse through their selection of shows and choose the episode you wish to view.

3. Buy episodes that are not offered for free. Unfortunately many shows are still not available for free online (at least not legally). If this is the case you can visit websites such as iTunes or Direct2Drive that will offer television shows for download at a much smaller cost than going out and buying the episodes on DVD at your local mall or video store.

4. Try AOL's in2TV. AOL offers many shows including a large number of classic television shows for free on their website. They also offer a service where you can buy episodes and download them to your computer's hard disk for a small price.

5. Do an internet search. If you are still not able to find the TV Episodes you are looking for try doing a search for "free television shows" in an internet search engine. This should direct you to sites that will offer a directory style listing of websites that may have the series that you are looking for.

Tips & Warnings

• Shop around for the best price. Different sites may have different download costs for TV Episodes. Be sure to do your research before buying to insure that you get the best deal possible.

• Not all websites that offer free TV episodes online do it in a legal way. Be sure that the website you choose to stream video on is reputable and is not breaking the law. Not only may you be breaking the law by watching the videos, you can also open up your computer to a host of internet viruses that could possibly damage your computer.
