Properly fitting snowboarding boots go a long way to improving your comfort and level of control on the mountain. Check out these tips to ensure that you are putting on a snowboarding boot the right way and that you've got the fit you need for tackling the slopes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Snowboarding boots
  • Snowboarding socks
  1. Step 1

Put on snowboarding socks. They should rise nearly to your knee and be made of a moisture-wicking material such as merino wool.

  2. Step 2

Sit down on a bench or chair. Spread open the laces of each boot and slide your feet in one at a time.

  3. Step 3

Tighten the laces on each boot until they feel snug.

  4. Step 4

Stand up. Push your heel into the back of the boot, then tighten the laces until your foot doesn't move inside the boot when you wiggle your leg from side to side.

  5. Step 5

While snowboarding, adjust the tightness of the boot as necessary for maximum comfort and control.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you plan to walk very far, loosen the laces of your snowboarding boot. Just be sure to tighten them again before you strap into your snowboard.
  • Though the snowboarding boots need to be tight to give you control over your board, don't make them so tight that they are uncomfortable or you lose circulation to your toes.
