Living in the desert can be wonderful, but dealing with the scorpions, bugs and other creepy crawlies of the more arid climates can be less than pleasant. When living in the desert there are a few tips you should follow to help seal-off and rid your home of scorpions.
If scorpions continually invade your home, it is time to seal off the crevices that allow the critters to easily access the inside. New weather stripping can be placed on every door to ensure a tight seal once the door has been closed.

Once you have sealed the doors, take a look at your windows and corners of your doors and walls. Are there cracks where creepy crawly critters can squeeze through to enter your house? If your answer is "yes" then get out the caulk and fill in gaps or holes where the bugs can make their way inside.

Black lights can help you identify spots where water or leaks enter your house, and can alert you to areas that may need to be addressed with weather stripping or caulk. Black light can also help you locate the critters so you can try to figure out where they are nesting.
4
Getting a cat may not keep the critters out, but the furry friends will alert you to a scorpion's presence. Oftentimes cats can notice the bugs that people overlook, which can help you find the points of entry that the scorpions take advantage of.
5
Vents are another way for bugs to get inside your home, so make sure your vents are properly sealed. Use duct tape to repair any holes or cracks you may find in your vent or duct system.
6
Call an exterminator to spray both the outside and inside of your house once you have completed the sealing. This will ensure that the critters that are already inside cannot reproduce, and that those immediately outside your home will either scurry away or be killed before they can enter your home.
Tips & Warnings
Always check your shoes before you put them on (if your house is prone to scorpion invasion)
Do not leave piles of clothes on the floor- that is a perfect nesting spot
Try not to be aggressive if you find one- they are scared, so if you act too aggressive they may attack in order to protect themselves
If you, a family member or pet get stung by a scorpion, go to the emergency room right away- although not all people are allergic to the venom, to many it can be life-threatening.
