Instructions

Use a graphics generator site to make the picture of the actual button. Most such sites offer a wide variety of designs to choose from and provide options to change text and color. You are sure to find something you like that will blend well with your website. Most websites offer step by step instructions and have a FAQ section should you need assistance. A link to Cooltext, a graphics generator website, is provided in Resources below.

Download the picture to your computer once it's to your liking. There will either be a download button or directions on how to save the picture to your computer, on the graphics's generator site to make this possible. Save the picture in a location you will remember.

Go to the image hosting site you prefer and upload the picture. A link to a free image hosting site, xs.to, is provided in the Resources section. This site even offers ways to enhance your button once it’s created such as animation and color changes, lighting effects, abstracting and more.

Take the direct link HTML from the image hosting site and place it into the HTML section of your website. This is the actual code you will need: <a href="http://YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS HERE"><img alt="Check out my published content!" src="YOUR BUTTON LINK CODE HERE" border="0" /></a>

Save the information on your website and then you should be able to view your new button link!

Tips & Warnings

  • Make the button colors match the layout of your site.

  • If you want double spaces between two buttons add <br/><br/> at the end of the HTML tag.

  • Save all of a particular website's button pictures in the same location for easy look-up.

  • There can be NO spaces between letters or words in your address or button link information in the HTML code.

I did this successfully, but the websites have changed a little since this article was written. The code is different now and Cool Text can now host your buttons if you put a link to them on any page where you use the button. You need to be at least somewhat familiar with html to use the code. Angel's example above can be used as a go-by to change the code Cool Text gives you. Great article.
