Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dashboard cover
  • Velcro or other adhesive (if needed)
  • Screwdriver (if needed)
  • Damp cloth
  • Vehicle protectant
  1. Step 1

Choosing a dashboard cover is probably the most important part of getting one installed in your Pontiac Vibe. The design of the Vibe includes a longer front end than most cars, making the dashboard area longer and deeper, so a specially made dashboard cover is vital. Most automotive or custom shops carry a variety of dashboard covers and custom books from which to order your new dashboard cover. Most covers come in a variety of fabrics and colors, with the options for custom combinations for an additional fee. Be sure to order your new dashboard cover as soon as possible, as it may take a while to be delivered to you.

  2. Step 2

Once you have your new dashboard cover, you need to prepare your dashboard. Take a damp cloth and wipe all of the dust and grime away that might have accumulated on your dashboard. You can also apply a vehicle protectant to your Pontiac Vibe’s dashboard before covering it as added protection. Make sure your dashboard is free from obstructions or other foreign material that may cause damage after the cover is applied.

  3. Step 3

Remove your dashboard cover from the packaging and place it on the dashboard. Be sure to completely unfold it and lay it flat to check for proper fit. The cover will most likely have some folds or wrinkles that will work themselves out in time. The cover should be specially designed to fit your Pontiac Vibe, so just a few slight adjustments should be necessary. Move the cover around until it fits securely on the dashboard. You may now apply Velcro or other vehicle-safe adhesives to the cover if you like, to ensure that it does not shift or slide.

  4. Step 4

After you’ve successfully installed your dashboard cover, take your car for a short ride to check the security of the cover. Watch the cover and be sure it does not move or shift while you are driving in a normal fashion. If the cover does slide, stop in a safe area and reattach the cover. If the cover stays securely in place and does not shift, then your new dashboard cover fits correctly in your Pontiac Vibe.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you order a dashboard cover made specifically for a Pontiac Vibe. The Vibe has a unique structure, and other covers may not fit properly.
  • Lay your dashboard cover flat a day or two ahead of time if possible, so that the folds and wrinkles have a chance to relax before you install it.
  • Be careful when using adhesives. You do not want to put the adhesive anywhere that is not approved for use.
