How to Burn PS2 Games
Many avid PlayStation 2 fans wish to create duplicates of their games as backups. To avoid having to purchase a new copy of the game if the original is broken or lost, a PS2 enthusiast can copy (or burn) a game with relative ease. The process takes about 20 minutes and is the ideal solution for any PS2 fan who wishes to keep a duplicate of a game for practical reasons.
Instructions
-
-
1
Place a PS2 game into your computer's DVD burner, which doubles as your CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive. Be careful not to scratch or damage your PS2 game when you place it in the drive.
-
2
Start the DVD-burning software; DVD Decrypter will be used for this example (see Resources).
-
-
3
Move your cursor to the toolbar on the program.
-
4
Open the “Mode” menu, followed by the “ISO” menu and then choose the “Read” option. The most recent version of DVD Decrypter should detect the source of your DVD burner.
-
5
Move your cursor to “Decrypt” and left-click. The game will copy to your hard drive.
-
6
Remove the PS2 game and replace it with a blank DVD.
-
7
Open the “Mode” menu, followed by the “ISO” menu and then choose the “Write” option.
-
8
Select the PS2 file that was duplicated to your hard drive and left-click the “Write” option.

Tips & Warnings
Use high-end blank DVDs to duplicate your PS2 games. Cheaper, lesser-known brands of DVDs will scratch easily and sometimes flake if not protected.
Duplicating PS2 games that you have not purchased is illegal.

This guide fails to mention that most PS2 systems require a mod chip to play the backup. That then violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in the United States. So, congratulations... you have a backup, but until the laws change, you have have lost the legal rights to access that backup. -
