Effectively Advertise Your Business for Free
Effectively Advertise Your Business for Free

You don't have to spend an arm and a leg on advertising for your business. There are many ways to effectively advertise for free on the Internet. By using these methods, you can gain customers and draw attention to your business website. You can also raise your ranking in the search engine results which could easily lead to more sales for you and cause your business to boom.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A blog host
  • Your own domain name
  • A little creativity

    Flugpo.com

  1. Step 1
Free advertising for businesses or individuals
Free advertising for businesses or individuals

Sign up for a free business profile on Flugpo. Fill out your profile by filling out the business overview section. Be sure to upload a picture of your business or products as well as a link to your website and/or blog. Don't forget to put some great keywords within your profile description so the search engines will pick you up.

  2. Step 2

Start placing free classified ads on the site. You can place as many ads as you want. I would suggest placing at least one ad daily. Flugpo has tags you can add to each ad which will help your ad be found within the community and also on search results. Don't forget to put a link to your business website in each and every ad.

  3. Step 3

Join groups that share an interest that pertains to your business. Participation in the groups will get you noticed more and lead to people viewing your business profile.

  4. Step 4

Place ads, place ads, place ads! I cannot stress that enough. The classified ads are showing up in search results and the more ads you place, the higher you will rank in those search results.

  5. Squidoo.com

  6. Step 1
Increase your business website ranking by making a Squidoo lens
Increase your business website ranking by making a Squidoo lens

Open a free account with Squidoo. Start your first lens. A lens is basically a one page website and is a great way to advertise your business.

  7. Step 2

Add lots of good pictures of your products or services in your lens. Make sure to leave a lot of links to your main business website within the lens along with appropriate keywords. This will help your main website with page ranking and search result placement.

  8. Step 3

Once your lens is complete, promote your lens within the Squidoo community. This gives you a brand new audience to present your business to.

  9. Step 4

Create more lenses. They don't all have to be directly about your business. You can link all of your lenses together so even if one lens is off topic, you are giving people interested in that topic the opportunity to also view your business lens.

  10. Start a Blog About Your Business

  11. Step 1
Get people talking about your business through a blog
Get people talking about your business through a blog

If you don't have a blog for your business, start one now! Blogs are one of the best ways to promote pretty much anything on the Internet. Even if you already have a website for your business, a blog can take your business to a whole new level. This is because blogs contain frequently updated information that the search engines will pick up which results in you showing up in the search results more often.

  12. Step 2

There are many blog hosts available. Some are free and others you can pay for. Since this is about free advertising, I suggest starting out with a free account and upgrade later if you feel it is worth it. Personally, I use Blogger (which is free) and find it to work just fine for me.

  13. Step 3

Try to write three posts a week at a minimum. Write about your business or about topics related to your business. Use keywords that are appropriate to your business within the blog posts you write. Try to think of how people might search for what you have to offer and use those terms in your writing.

  14. Step 4

Find other blogs related to your topic and request a link exchange with them. That will help your blog get a higher page ranking and also expose your blog to a whole new audience. Make sure to leave the link to your business website on your blog and also within your blog posts.

  15. Step 5

Join various blog communities to help promote your blog. Although this can take a little time, it is well worth it considering your blog is a gateway to your business.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient. These free advertising strategies work but might take just a little time to see results. It is worth the wait!
  • Be diligent. Continue fine tuning all of your efforts daily.
  • Don't believe that nothing in life is free. These advertising resources are free and also effective.

on 11/8/2009 Awesome article. I suggest trying Craigslist for free advertising too. I am a member of Squidoo and enjoy it; you can create "Lenses" about any subject you're passionate about. So sure, write about your business but be sure to create Lenses about your hobbies, too. But be careful; if you have too many links to sites outside Squidoo, they may flag you for spamming.
