Things You'll Need:
- A computer
- Adobe acrobat
- MS Word
-
Step 1
Set your reasons for writing an ebook - The reason why you want to write an ebook plays a vital role in your success as an ebook writer. It may be for financial gain, promoting a business, advancing your career, or self satisfaction. Whatever be the reason, just write it down as it is going to motivate you at times.
-
Step 2
Choose a Subject- There are lots of subject to choose from. Like 'why you want to write an ebook' or its wise to stick on something that really interests you. If you know more about your subjects, it will be easier for you to pen down the things.
-
Step 3
Choose your title - Try writing some titles that come to your mind first. This will help you in focusing and may give you ideas. Always bear in mind that your title should give clear indication to the subject of your book. A catchy title would help you bring more readers.
-
Step 4
Choose the audience - Your subject and writing style will determine your readers. Target a group for your book on the basis of age, gender, culture, social background, education and other factors.
-
Step 5
Write a Thesis Statement - Many people have different opinion of whether to write a thesis statement or not. Personally I would definitely recommend a thesis statement for your ebook.
A thesis statement is a sentence or two written to clearly show the reason(s) for your ebook and what you expect to write about.
You can think of it as a foundation to your ebook. It should include
1)Your subject
2)What you think about the subject
3)Supporting reason for your opinion about the subject
4)The significance all the above 3. -
Step 6
Create Your Document - Now you have created a base for your book, you can begin writing. You can start your writing with a standard application like MS Word. Choose the format and layout of your document, including headings, chapters and introductions. You can also add pictures, anecdotes, or testimonials that would keep up the interests of the readers.
-
Step 7
Spell check and save your document frequently.
-
Step 8
Choose Your Ebook Format - This is entirely your choice. You can decide to create an executable (.exe) file or a Portable Document Format (.pdf) file. Before choosing, consider these points:
EXE files can only be read on a PC.
EXE files dont require any software to be read.
EXE files are compiled using an ebook compiler.
EXE files are easy to open, easily branded, and good viral marketing tools.
EXE files are susceptible to viruses although some compilers offer virus protection.
PDF files can be created using Adobe Acrobat.
PDF files are an industry standard.
PDF files can be read by both PC and MAC
PDF files require Adobe Acrobat to be read
PDF files are unlikely to be infected.
