How to Find Free Online Computer Memory Testers

1. Download the free ISO image from Memtest86 (see Resources). This is a free online tool. All you need to do is select the "Free Download" link located on the left side and burn it to a CD. Next, restart your computer and boot from the CD.
2. Test your computer's memory with Windows Memory Diagnostic by Microsoft (see Resources). This user-friendly online tool conducts a series of tests to diagnose any memory problems.
3. Find a free online memory-testing tool for your computer at Micro2000 (see Resources). The M2K MemScope is another free online tool. Expect it to conduct several tests to locate even minor problems with your computer's memory. For best results, choose the "Run All" option.
4. Locate the "Download" link at the bottom of the page on the Simmtester website (see Resources). You'll need to register before downloading the software. The downside to using this tool is that the website doesn't offer online or phone tech support.

Tips & Warnings

• Possible error messages when a computer experiences memory problems are illegal operations, fatal exceptions and general protection fault error messages.
• If you find that the memory on your computer is bad, you may need to replace it.
