Instructions

Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and gentle exfoliant before applying your moisturizer. While there are many products available for mature skin, you can save pennies and do your skin a world of good by simply adding a sprinkle of fine grain sea salt to your regular cleanser, both cleansing and exfoliating skin at the same time.

Choose a facial toner with collagen to use immediately after washing and exfoliating your skin, and before applying your moisturizer. Toner is an important part of mature skin care, as it helps your moisturizer to go on and be absorbed into the skin quickly and easily. Additionally, toners help to close large pores and restore pH balance to the skin, which will help to combat premature aging.

Apply a moisturizing eye cream first, applying the cream under the eyes where bags tend to form and around the corners of the eyes where crow's feet tend to creep. Eye cream is a deep moisturizer, so do not feel that it must be saved just for the eyes. Apply the cream around the mouth and nose, to the forehead and other areas where the signs of mature skin are beginning to show.

    • 4

Top of your eye cream with a moisturizer that contains at least 15 SPF sunscreen. Mature skin is usually benefited by the use of oil-based sunscreen, as it is dryer than younger skin. Make sure that you apply your moisturizer with sunscreen not just to your face and exposed skin, but to your entire body.

Mix 20 drops of lavender essential oil for every 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil and then apply the oil lightly to your entire body before bed. Wait about 20 minutes and then lightly pat the skin with a towel to remove any excess. Both lavender and olive oil are deep penetrating moisturizers that soothe the skin, combat wrinkles and enhance firmness.
