How to Use Benzoyl Peroxide To Get Rid Of Blackheads

Blackheads are an unsightly form of acne. Unlike cystic acne, blackheads leave tiny black marks on the skin and are essentially clogged pores. Unlike regular acne, they can be more difficult to remove, but benzoyl peroxide can be used to help get rid of this annoying skin affliction.

Things You'll Need

• Facial cleanser
• Towel
• Benzoyl peroxide

Instructions

1. Look for benzoyl peroxide at your local drug or cosmetics store. Avoid purchasing any cream that contains less than 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide or more than 10 percent.

2. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Be sure you're using one that is oil free and designed for acne-prone skin.

3. Pat your face dry and do not rub.

4. Apply a thin layer of the benzoyl peroxide to the blackheads and allow it to dry.

5. Repeat this process at night before bedtime, and your blackheads should disappear.

Tips & Warnings

• Choosing the right percentage of benzoyl peroxide can be tricky, and it may take several different brands or formulas until you find the one that works best for you.

• Benzoyl peroxide can bleach clothing and pillowcases on direct contact. Be sure to use only white pillowcases and sleep in clothing that you don't mind if it potentially gets bleach spots.

• Do not apply too much of the benzoyl peroxide cream. A thin layer over troubled areas of the face should work just fine.
