Step 1
Get back to basics. Marilyn's glamor and fashion was not built upon the crazy whims and style crazes of her day. She stuck with simplicity and beauty. Flair was not something she needed to add to her wardrobe. She carried it with her. Keep in mind that a truly glamorous woman needs no flashy overstatements when planning her wardrobe.
-
Step 2
Fill your closet with lots of dresses. Marilyn wore pants and even jeans. Yet, she chose to look her best at all times when she was seen in public. A dress was her main mode of fashion expression. Granted, it was also the time period that she lived in, but simple dresses as staples for your wardrobe and will go miles towards creating a Marilyn look.
-
Step 3
Wear pastels and other colors that are flattering. Have your colors tested and dress in what flatters you the most. Marilyn knew what to wear to make herself appear in the best light. It's an important part of style. Try on as many outfits in as many colors as possible until you know which ones make you look the prettiest.
-
Step 4
Buy pearls. They can be the real deal but faux pearls are almost as lovely. It's important that the jewelry be simple and elegant. Some of the most lovely and famous pictures of Marilyn are ones in which she wore her pearls.
-
Step 5
Wear high heels. even with your jeans. Marilyn knew how to dress up anything. She wore casual as though it were the most gorgeous of designer gowns, and she pulled off this feat through her own style and imagination.
-
Step 6
Keep a bit of Norma Jean in your wardrobe. Remember your roots. Marilyn started from humble beginnings and she built up her glamor over time. Keep a bit of the small town girl in your wardrobe selection.
