One very handy function of Premiere Pro is the ability to create titles. "Titles" are also known as credits, and can include any type of text such as the title of your movie, the names of your actors and crew and even subtitles. They can be created using any font available on your computer, and you can add logos, photos and other graphics to customize your movie. Titles can be created from scratch as well as from templates, and Premiere has many different preset layouts with a variety of graphics you can choose from. Using templates is a good way to speed up the title creation process, and is one of the simplest ways to create fast, professional titles for your movie.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Edited video sequence
  1. Step 1

Load a title template by going to the Title Menu at the top of your workspace. Next, go to “New Title” and then “Based on Template.”

  2. Step 2

Click on the triangle next to one of the category names to expand the options available. Select the name and then click OK. Note that the version of Premiere or Premiere Pro you are using will determine the number templates available to you.

  3. Step 3

Import a saved title to use as a template by going to the Title Menu at the top of your workspace, and choose Templates. This is another way to access the templates in Premiere Pro, with the difference here being you are importing a title that you have previously created in another project.

  4. Step 4

Select “Import File as Template” from the menu within the Templates menu. Choose a file, and then click on Open. Create a new name for the title to be saved under, and then click OK.

  5. Step 5

Change any element of a template by opening the title in the title editor viewer. Do this by double-clicking the title in your Project Panel or in the Timeline. Here you can edit text, change fonts and add or delete other elements. Make sure that after you complete the changes you save the template under a new name for future use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Depending on the number of titles you are creating, you may find it convenient to set up a special folder saved on your hard drive for all your Premiere Pro titles. This way, all of your titles are in one location, and it will save you the time of looking through multiple project files.
