Copyright and security issues are important when it comes to protecting many companies' software and games. However, one popular Copyright product, SecuROM, has been known to create an annoying disturbance and presence on computers, especially after the software or game it came attached with has been uninstalled. According to many consumers, the presence of SecuROM files can even wreak havoc with games that may already be installed on the computer. If you would like to get rid of the SecuROM files that were installed on your computer once and for all, here are two methods to do so.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Using Sony's official SecuROM uninstaller tool

  1. Step 1

Download the official SecuROM Uninstaller Tool to your computer's hard drive. This tool can be obtained by contacting SecuROM's support team or can be found by searching Google.

  2. Step 2

Right-click the file that was downloaded and choose "Extract All." Make sure to save the Tool to your computer's "C:" drive.

  3. Step 3

Open the Command Prompt box in a Windows Operating System by going to the Start button, clicking on the "Run" option, and typing in the letters "cmd" for Command.

  4. Step 4

Manually run the SecuROM Uninstaller Tool to get rid of any and all existing SecuROM copyright files by typing this line into the Command Prompt Box once it is open: "SecuROM_Uninstaller.exe /fulluninstall." (Note: Do not use quotes when typing that phrase.) Press Enter after the command has been typed.

  5. Step 5

Click the "OK" button on any dialogue box that pops up after the command was entered. This dialogue box will simply alert you that you are going to run the SecuROM uninstaller Tool program.

  6. Step 6

Allow the SecuROM Uninstaller Tool to finish running before closing out of the Command Prompt Box. By this point, all of the SecuROM files should be gone from your computer.
