Dressing up in a costume when you are pregnant can be a bit of a challenge. You not only need to find a costume that you can have fun in, but also you must also find a costume to fit your body. One fun costume idea is a Mother Nature costume. Wearing this costume as a pregnant person, give a whole new meaning to the word “Mother”, plus the costume looks great no matter how big your belly gets. Here are the steps on how to make it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Silk flowers garland
  • Fake birds
  • Glue gun
  • Wreath to fit your head
  • Over sized flowing dress
  • Extra white gauzy fabric
  • Gold makeup
  1. Step 1

Find an over sized long flowing dress. If you don’t own an over sized flowing dress that you can possibly ruin, you can get one from the thrift store. It does not have to be a maternity dress, you can just get something a few sizes bigger than your normall size.

  2. Step 2

Make a sash out of the gauzy fabric. A sash is worn over one shoulder, across your body diagonally, with the ends secured below your other hip.

  3. Step 3

Attach more gauze fabric to the shoulders of the dress in back creating a short train that drags behind you. This will give the dress a more luxurious feeling.

  4. Step 4

Secure the fabric to the dress as well as the flowered vine. Drape the flowers and vines all over the dress and secure it with the glue gun and/ or safety pins. Add as many or as little flowers as you like.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the wreath with flowers as well, and add a couple of fake birds to the wreath. You can also add a fake bird to the shoulder of your dress as well.

  6. Step 6

Alternate dress idea: You can create a toga dress out of sheets or gauzy fabric. Wear a close fitting shirt and stretch pants underneath for coverage, and wrap the fabric around your body securing it to your undergarment outfit with pins.

  7. Step 7

Put on the costume, and decorate your face with gold glittery makeup. Wear the glitter makeup in place of eyeshadow and blush. If you can find gold lipstick, wear that too.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful when walking with the fabric trailing the ground. You may also want to add a wrist band to the end of the train to wear on your wrist.
