Baseball card collection

Maybe you have a baseball card collection that you'd like to find the value of. Here are the best ways to do that.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  • Baseball card collection
  • Beckett baseball guide
  1. Step 1

To check the value of your individual cards online the best way to do it is by visiting eBay. Visit the sports cards listings page and look to see what price the card you have is pulling in.

  2. Step 2
    Beckett Baseball Guide
    Beckett Baseball Guide

To check the value of your card through the Beckett baseball guide you will need to buy a guide. The guides are available at many major stores such as Wal-Mart.

  3. Step 3

In order to look up your individual card in Beckett you will need to know the card number on the back as well as what year and make the card was. For example 2007 Upper Deck Card #24.

  4. Step 4

If you want a more accurate idea of what the average buyer is going to pay I suggest using eBay, but if you are a fanatical sports card collector who could sell your collection to a famous collector Beckett might be right for you.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want your cards to be worth more in the long run you need to store them in a very safe place.
  • Don't expect to get rich off baseball cards, the prices of most cards are quite low.

on 3/20/2009 This is some good information. A good place to start before you spend money on an appraiser is www.ValueJockey.com. It is free. I would recommend using the tips from this article and posting a picture up there. Good Luck!!!

on 1/19/2009 good post. you can also find up to the minute pricing available on beta.zistle.com which uses data from ebay and other sites to give you the most accurate pricing around. It is a great way to see what your cards are REALLY worth. Many guides are inflated because card manufactures advertise in them and they want you to think the cards are worth more that they actually are...
