Telling someone no is one of the hardest things there is to do, especially when it comes to money. Here are a few tips to help you say no to people asking to borrow money without having to actually say no.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Guts
  1. Step 1

    Flip the switch
Tell them that you were just thinking of asking them to borrow money. This always works and shortens the conversation

  2. Step 2

Tell them this: “I just can’t afford to loan money out, gas prices are taking me to the poor house”

  3. Step 3

    Blame someone else.
Tell them that you just gave your son your last $50 this morning for gas.

  4. Step 4

Tell them this: If I had it, I’d rather give it to you than loan it to you, but I don’t have to loan or give.

  5. Step 5

Tell them you just got a letter from your daughter at college asking for $1200 bucks…
