Control freaks are out there, and sometimes you don't recognize them until you have gone on many dates with one. If you like a control freak and want to date him or her despite this problem, keep these points in mind.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be calm when your control freak starts to get angry or anxious about something. When you rise to his anger level and get into a heated argument, you feed his anxiety and freakishness. Just breathe and let him boil up and then settle down.

  2. Step 2

Be patient when you date a control freak. Losing your patience and ignoring a control freak is the worst thing to do. They tend to want to dominate the conversation, turn every topic to a conversation about themselves and want to lead the group in the topics that are chosen. Remain patient and listen, and you can keep the freak at bay.

  3. Step 3

Stay aware of your emotions and what the control freak you chose to date tries to incite in you. She may tend to feed off of getting a certain reaction out of you, and when she gets a negative reaction, she'll push that button all the time. Break the cycle by recognizing what she incites in you and change it.

  4. Step 4

Remain kind and courteous to your control freak at all times. Kindness can ease his anxiety and encourage him to open up to you. Control freaks are usually controlling because of mistreatment in their past. Break that cycle for him, and he may decrease his efforts to control you.

  5. Step 5

Make requests and demands on your control freak's time. This indicates you are not intimidated by her possessive and jealous tirades. If she constantly nags you about who you talk to you and who you used to date, then she is a possessive and jealous control freak. Demanding something from her can help you stop being a doormat when you date a control freak.
