How to Follow Bidet Etiquette
Americans are often caught off guard when traveling overseas to countries that have long embraced the bidet. At first glance, most of us wouldn't even know what we were looking at, let alone how to use it. We certainly not how to follow bidet etiquette.

1
Do your toilet business in the toilet. The bidet isn't for the actual elimination process. It's for the clean up after the elimination process.
-
2
Adjust the bidet water pressure to your preference, but start it low and gradually increase so as not to spray water all over the bathroom. Messy water play isn't proper bidet etiquette. Go ahead and adjust the temperature as well.

3
Dry yourself, but make sure you use the right material. Depending on where you are, the owner of the bidet may prefer you use a towel rather than toilet paper. In some countries, the drains and sewer system cannot handle too much toilet paper, in which case you should either use a tiny bit to dry off with or see if a stack of towels has been provided nearby.
-
4
Run the jets on the bidet after you clean yourself. The water should run as clear as it did when you first turned on the water.
-
5
Dry up any sprays, spills and splashes that may have strayed during the wash process.

Thanks for the helpful article on bidet etiquette. I have a bidet in my house and find that most people have no idea how to use it.
