on 10/1/2009 Hello everybody - One of my boys did it all day long. At last I got to this kind of solution. Unfortunately it did not help a bit. He just bit long enough that the taste wore off and then got on with biting. It was a tough time and what finally stopped him doing it was just growing up.

on 8/11/2009 The "one nail a day", or if it's too much "one nail a week" is a great approach. I would suggest adding an "alternative habit" each nail, such as reinforcing and polishing the "safe nail/nails", doing cuticle cream and/or anti-aging cream (same stuff you use on your face) to your hands and the fingers where you have quit biting. You would be AMAZED how quickly the fingers look better. When you see the difference, and ESPECIALLY the difference in the fingers that have been given a rest and special treatment for several weeks, it will give you motivation to help all fingers. Take this as slow as you need, as you probably have had this habit for years. See if you can transfer the habit to an object over time, such a healthy food reward (like sugar free gum, a daily ritual such as a multi-vitamin, etc.), meditation or yoga, even a vibrator, or the like. Nail biting is a tactile addiction...

on 7/27/2009 I came from my mothers womb chewing my nails its a sad nasty dirty addiction. I call it an addiction because its something I find Im always working on.I'll share what works for me. I first apply shiny polish then apply bitter over the clear polish then imagine how nice they would look, after all it is something in our minds. It works for me. I still fall off that nail chewing addition finding myself starting over maybe someday I'll be able to completely stop.I don't know I do know I won't give up.Remember your not use to long nails hick your not use to having any nails at all so when you do achieve your goal, and you can! keep your nails short at least for awhile.Next buy your fingers a pretty new shiney ring.

on 7/21/2009 I had tried everything then nothing seemed to work... The only thing that has pushed me to stop was the fact that because i was always biting my nails i have very small chips in my teeth which has now put me off biting them. If i had know this would happen i would have never bit them.
