How to Find Someone on Twitter

Twitter is an excellent tool for Internet users. With Twitter, you can connect with all sorts of people, from friends and family to colleagues and clients. While you can certainly invite someone to join Twitter, you can also find someone on Twitter who already has an account.

Instructions

    • 1

Get the email address of the person you want to find on Twitter. If the person uses multiple email addresses, it helps to have all of those email addresses.

    • 2

Log into Twitter from the Twitter homepage.

    • 3

Click "Find & Follow" from the menu area in the upper-right corner of the page.

    • 4

Enter your Hotmail, MSN, Gmail, Yahoo or AOL mail address and password. Twitter doesn't store these passwords, so your information is absolutely safe.

    • 5

Click "Continue." This allows Twitter to look through your contact list or address book to find email addresses. If those email addresses are associated with a Twitter account, Twitter will prompt you to follow those people on Twitter.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the people you're looking for aren't on Twitter, you can invite them. From the Find & Follow page, click the "Invite by Email" tab. Enter the user's email address into the address field, and then click "Send."

  • You can also search for people by name on Twitter. From any Twitter page, click in the "Search" box. Type the name of the person you're looking for. If the person has a Twitter account and is using his real name, Twitter will show you that user.

There isn't a "find and follow" option when I log into Twitter.
