Package the object carefully, with plenty of padding.

Write the recipient's name and street address on the package.

Write the country name in large letters.

Request the postal code for the package's destination at the post office.

Ask for price quotes on sea and air transport. Sea is cheaper but can take much longer, especially when traveling between continents.

Expect to pay an expensive surcharge, often up to $30, in addition to the weight if you request rush delivery.

Neatly addressed and taped packages arrive more quickly and safely.
If you don't want to use the U.S. Postal Service, do all of the above, then call another shipper of your choice. You'll have to identify the postal code for your destination yourself, by either calling the destination or using a foreign postal code directory, many of which are available online.

When shipping a package to Thailand, be aware that the recipient may have to pay a relatively expensive "receiver's fee" to pick up the parcel. A fee that is more than half the cost of the material shipped may be due. Ask yourself if this is worth it, and if it would be better to send money instead.
