Use a Self-Tanner

You can look like you've just stepped off the plane from Hawaii without exposing yourself to the sun's dangerous rays.

From Quick Guide: How to Get Tan Fast
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Washcloths
  • Body Liquid Cleansers
  • Body Lotion
  • Self-tanners
  1. Step 1

Experiment with a portion of your body that no one will see to determine how your skin responds to a particular self-tanner formula.

  2. Step 2

Cleanse your body with a liquid cleanser, then exfoliate your skin gently with a washcloth or loofah while bathing.

  3. Step 3

    Dry your skin completely.

  4. Step 4

Apply a tiny amount of light moisturizing lotion if you have dry skin.

  5. Step 5

Decide which parts of your body you want to have color.

  6. Step 6

Start with your face, then move down your body. Use only enough tanner to cover the area you're working on; get help from a friend if you want color on your back.

  7. Step 7

Use a damp paper towel to take off any excess tanner on such areas as the neck, knees and elbows.

  8. Step 8

    Wash your hands immediately.

  9. Step 9

Avoid getting dressed for at least 20 minutes to allow the tanner to dry.

  10. Step 10

Exfoliate every day and apply more self-tanner every three or four days, experimenting with how much you need.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use self-tanner before going to bed instead of during the day so you don't dye your clothes.
  • Avoid using other skin care products before or after self-tanning.
  • Remember that some body parts look strange with color if they do not normally get tan.

on 6/5/2009 I love self tanner. I am at the beach constantly in the summer but use tons of sun block. Good self tanner is a great "fake out" and so much better than wrinkles! 5*
