Yahoo Pipes allows you to create custom mash-ups with content from all over the Internet. Combine or geo-code feeds, power widgets and translate feeds into RSS to provide your site with constantly updated content.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Install DekiWiki from the Mindtouch DekiWiki Web site.

  2. Step 2

Bring up the Howcast Web site and click on the "RSS" link at the bottom of the page. Browse the RSS feeds and choose one. Right-click on the orange RSS feed button and select "Copy Shortcut" from the pop-up menu.

  3. Step 3

Navigate to Yahoo pipes. Log in and select "Create a Pipe" from the options at the top of the page.

  4. Step 4

Click "User Inputs" from the options list and select "Text Input," which brings up a text module entry box.

  5. Step 5

Type "How to" in the Prompt entry field and then type "Link videos" in the Default entry field.

  6. Step 6

Select "URL" from the options list and click "URL Builder," which brings up the URL Builder text entry box. Paste the URL you copied from Howcast into the Base entry field. Type a lower case "q" (without the quotes) in the first "Query Parameters" entry field.

  7. Step 7

Link the text module entry box with the URL Builder text box. Click on the circle at the bottom of the first box and drag the cursor to the circle at right of the second (empty) Query Parameter entry field in the URL Builder text box.

  8. Step 8

Click "Sources" in the options column and select "Fetch Feed," which brings up the Fetch Feed entry box.

  9. Step 9

Link the URL Builder box to the Fetch Feed entry box. Click on the circle at the bottom of the URL Builder box and drag it to the circle near the blank entry field.

  10. Step 10

Link the Fetch Feed entry box to the Pipe Output module near the bottom of the working area. Click on the circle in the bottom of the Fetch Feed entry box. Drag it to the circle at the top of the Pipe Output module.

  11. Step 11

Click "Save" at the top of the page. Enter a name for your pipe in the given field of the Name Entry pop-up box and click the "Save" button. Click "Get as RSS" in the options menu. If you don't see it, click on "More Options" to find it in the list presented.

  12. Step 12

Select "Back to My Pipes" at the top of the screen. Click on the name of your pipe, which is now a link. Copy the link, now an RSS feed, and paste it in DekiWiki under "Videos From Howcast" and "Insert Videos Here."
