How to Use FTP in Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a popular web browser for Windows, Linux, and Mac based operating systems. Although Firefox is a very robust browser, you are unable to use it as an FTP client. To do so, you must download and install the FireFTP plugin for Firefox. The FireFTP plugin is a free cross-platform FTP client and allows you to connect to various FTP servers on the web.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• FireFTP
• Mozilla Firefox

1. Download the FireFTP plugin at the Mozilla website. When the download is finished, open the file with Mozilla FireFox and follow the instructions to install the FireFTP plugin.

2. Start the plugin by going to the "Tools" section on the menu bar and selecting "FireFTP" in the drop-down menu. Once the plugin is enabled, then you can start using it to connect to various FTP servers on the web.

3. Connect to an FTP server by selecting the "Create an account" drop-down menu. When the Account Manager screen appears, input your FTP server information in the fields and click on "Connect" to connect to the server.

4. Transfer files to your FTP server by selecting the files in the left window pane and clicking the right arrow. Conversely, you can transfer files from your FTP server by selecting the files in the right window pane and clicking the left arrow.

Tips & Warnings

• Instead of clicking on the arrows to transfer files, you can upload files to your FTP server by dragging files from the left window pane to the right window pane.
• Select more than one file by holding the "Shift" key and clicking on the files you want to be uploaded or downloaded.
