Skeletons go with Halloween like peanut butter goes with jelly. Collect several plastic one gallon milk cartons to make a bony guy. Hang him indoors or outside to add some spook appeal to your Halloween celebration. Plan to spend approximately one hour to create this project.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 Clean plastic milk jugs
  • Sharp scissors
  • Craft knife
  • Permanent marker
  • Hole punch
  • String
  • Hot glue gun
  1. Step 1

Flip a milk carton upside down with the handle facing away from you. Make the skeleton's face by cutting a smile, nose holes and eyes out of the milk carton with a craft knife. Then make two narrow cuts in the top of the milk carton for a place to attach a string for hanging.

  2. Step 2

Set a second milk jug, right side up, with the handle facing away from you. Slice down the center of the jug. Draw the rib cage with a permanent marker and then trim away the plastic. Secure the rib cage to the head with hot glue.

  3. Step 3

Cut off two jug handles to form the shoulders. Leave a two inch circle at the base of each side of the handle. Punch a hole in one of the circles on each shoulder piece. Glue them to the rib cage with the holes facing away from the rib cage.

  4. Step 4

Make the skeleton's waist from two milk jug spouts. Cut two spouts from milk cartons, leaving a 2-inch diameter ring at the base of the spout. Glue the two spouts together with their top sides touching each other.

  5. Step 5

Remove the bottom of one milk jug with a craft knife, leaving the sides approximately 4 1/2-inches high. Cut a rainbow shape from each of the four sides. Turn the hips so that the bottom of the milk jug is facing up. Glue the hips to the waist.

  6. Step 6

Draw eight bone shapes on a new milk jug. Cut out the bones. Punch holes in both ends of each bone. Tie two bones to each shoulder and two to each leg.

  7. Step 7

Trace both of your hands and both of your feet onto a milk jug. Cut out the shapes. Punch a hole in the top of each piece. Tie the hands to the arm bones and the feet to the leg bones to complete your finished Halloween skeleton.
