Things You'll Need:
- Pick or wide-toothed comb
- Shampoo for permed hair
- Conditioner for permed hair
-
Step 1
Throw caution to the wind and get a perm. You feel like you have a completely new "you" when you treat yourself. Be sure you take care of the perm by waiting a few days to wash it.
-
Step 2
Dry your hair naturally by letting it air dry. A blow-dryer will make you look like Frankenstein's bride. Once dry, use a pick or a wide-toothed comb to pull the curl into place.
-
Step 3
Avoid the urge to brush your hair. Brushing a new perm makes it frizz. The curl is there, so don't mess with it any more than you have to.
-
Step 4
Stay out of heavy wind. Your hair will get brittle and break if blown about with strong wind gusts. It will benefit your hair and your style to cover your hair when in harsh, blowing wind.
-
Step 5
Protect your hair from harsh sunlight as well. Intense sun exposure can dry out your hair and make it brittle. Aside from protecting it from the hot sun, be sure to use conditioners that nourish your hair.
