How to Import Contacts in Yahoo! Messenger
Importing contacts into Yahoo! Messenger is a breeze with the latest version of Messenger. If you already have a Yahoo! Address Book or Microsoft Outlook, the program walks you through steps to import automatically. If you use another program, it takes a few more steps but is still possible.

Importing Contacts From Yahoo! Address Book or Microsoft Outlook

Download the latest version of Yahoo! Instant Messenger to ensure you have the latest application (see Resources below). Once you download the program, select "Run" and follow the directions on the screen.

Open Yahoo! Instant Messenger and look for the word "Contacts" on the upper right (next to the word "Actions").

Click on the "Contacts" choice then select "Import Contacts." Select the boxes next to Yahoo! Address Book, Microsoft Outlook or both then click "Next."

Select the addresses from the list that you want to import then click on "Next."
Import From Other Programs

Open your mail program and open the address book. click on "File." Programs vary, but generally one will find a setting called "Tools." Under this selection there should be a choice to export addresses.

Export the addresses to a .CSV file (comma separated values). Open Microsoft Outlook then open the address book.

Select "File" on the upper left then "Import and Export," which leads you to the choice (among others) of "Import from another program or file." Click on that and choose "Next."

Click on "Comma Separated Values (Windows) then browse until you find the .CSV file you would like to import and click "Next."

Repeat steps in Section One after the addresses are imported into Microsoft Outlook.
