Step 1
Speak up. Talk to your friend privately and calmly about why you don't think this relationship is working out for him. Explain your reasons and listen to what he has to say. Expect him to get defensive and stand by his girlfriend, but start out by speaking your mind and showing your friend that you care.
-
Step 2
Invite your friend and his girlfriend to events that he enjoys, even if she doesn't like them. If your friend refuses to come because his girlfriend won't have fun, you can talk to him about why he never hangs out with you anymore. If they both attend, you can point out to him later how she doesn't fit into his lifestyle well.
-
Step 3
Show him the kind of relationship he deserves. Point out other happy couples and girls who would be a much better match for him. That doesn't mean introducing him to other women and tempting him to cheat on his girlfriend, but helping him to see that a bad relationship is not the only option out there.

Step 4
Let it go. At some point, you might have to decide between dealing with your friend's annoying girlfriend or letting go of the friendship for a while. If you really care about your friend, you can stick by him even if his love life is less than desirable. After you've made your perspective clear though, it might be best to drop the subject for a while and let your friend live and hopefully learn.
