How to Make Money as a Musician
While many musicians play and sing for the love of music, a little financial incentive would also be nice. The best careers are those where someone pays you to do something you thoroughly enjoy. However, making money as a musician isn't easy and you may need a little guidance on how to start a musical career.

1
Consider making money by selling songs that you write. While you may prefer to be the one that sings them, you can make more money if you let someone who already has a recording contract sing your songs.
-
2
Teach music to those that are willing to learn. Many individuals have interest in learning to play the guitar, play the piano or to sing correctly. Put your skills to good use by spreading musical skills to others and receive money for it.

3
Audition your music with a production music company. Radio stations and advertising companies purchase a production music library to use as background music in ads, news broadcasts and talk shows.
-
4
Write ad jingles for businesses. While the job may not seem glamorous, think of the air play your song will receive. The songs people remember most tend to be the jingles they hear repeatedly over the radio or on television commercials.

Play gigs at local clubs, bars and restaurants. The pay is pretty decent and, if you draw in a large crowd, club owners will often ask you to come back and play again or even put you on a regular schedule. You can also expand your services and appeal to clubs and bars across the nation, going on a mini tour with your band.
