Things You'll Need:
- Pair of glasses to read the fine print.
-
Step 1
Choose natural vitamins, not chemically synthesized vitamins. The body absorbs natural vitamins easier; whereas, you don't know what's in synthesized vitamins and your body my not absorb them.
-
Step 2
Avoid vitamins with artificial coloring, preservatives, sugars, and starches. These are ingredients our bodies do not need.
-
Step 3
Chelated minerals may be better absorbed, but the cost does not justify the 5-10% increase in absorbtion ability.
-
Step 4
Look for vitamins that have been laboratory tested and approved by the USP (Pharmacopela).
-
Step 5
When looking for a multi-vitamin, look for one that contains all 8 B Vitamins: B1, B2 or Riboflavin, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 or folic acid, and B12. Avoid products that are extra strength. The extra is not needed. Time Released Vitamins actually take longer to absorb.

on 7/1/2008 Oh my Gosh! I had no idea how complicated vitamins were. I have a condition that requires me to take vitamins everyday... at least, I am supposed to. I just haven't been able to figure them out. Thanks for this information. Maybe I can get my health back on track now!
